No mention of Waltzing Matilda? Tsk tsk.

Jokes aside, I really enjoyed this read as an American vaguely aware of some aspects of Aussie culture (tall poppy, Ned Kelly), but hearing it elaborated out was quite nice. Do you ever feel that Australia suffers from a bit of an identity crisis (a la Canada) or do you think its remoteness has lent itself to a unique enough culture to distinguish itself? (Great article btw, looking forward to the next one)

thank you!!!! glad you enjoyed reading it. Yeah, I wanted to mention Waltzing Matilda but ran out of space. I feel like aussies don't have an identity crisis at all, isolation from the rest of the world has enabled us to craft a unique enough culture that is obsessed with sport and beaches hmm
